2 Easy Japanese Salad Dressings | Wasabi & Garden Soy

Do you ever find yourself staring at the back of a store-bought bottle, wondering what all those ingredients actually are? I created this space for anyone who wants 'addictive' flavors without the mystery. My recipes are designed to be simple, fast, and so delicious that you'll find yourself reaching for extra veggies without even trying. From zesty wasabi kicks to garden-fresh soy blends, let’s bring the best of home cooking back to your table.


Ingredients

Wasabi Dressing

  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp Rice vinegar

  • 1/2 tbsp Sesame oil

  • 1/2 tsp Honey

  • 1/2 tsp Dashi powder

  • 1/2 tsp(about 2.3g) Wasabi paste (Adjust to your liking!)

Japanese Garden Soy Dressing

  • 35g Onion (chopped)

  • 50g Carrot (sliced)

  • 3 Black olives (pitted)

  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar

  • 1½ tbsp Olive oil

  • 2 tbsp Sugar

    *If using sweet onions, start with 1½ tbsp sugar. Add 1/2 tbsp more if needed.

  • 1/8 tsp Garlic powder

  • 1/8 tsp Onion powder

  • 1/8 tsp Salt & Black pepper


Instructions

Wasabi Dressing

  1. Add all ingredients to a bowl.

  2. Whisk until the honey and dashi are dissolved.


Garden Soy Dressing

  1. Chop the onion and carrot into small pieces for easy blending.

  2. Place all ingredients in a blender.

  3. Blend until completely smooth.

  4. Taste and add salt or more sugar if needed.


Cooking Notes

1. To remove onion "sharpness," soak in cold water or microwave for 10-15 seconds before blending.

2. Wasabi varies by brand. Taste and adjust the heat to your preference.

3. If using sweet onions, start with 1½ tbsp sugar. Add 1/2 tbsp more if needed.
