If you grew up in Japan, you know that classic "Ion Water" drinks like Pocari Sweat and Aquarius are the ultimate comfort. For me, they taste like childhood. Whenever a hot summer afternoon rolled around, or I was feeling under the weather with a fever, my mom would always get me one. It was always so comforting, nice, and delicious.
This homemade version is light, incredibly refreshing, and made with clean, simple ingredients you probably already have at home.
Ingredients
serving: about 2 glasses
500 ml Water
2 ½ tablespoons Sugar(Costco's Organic Cane Sugar in the video)
2 tablespoons Lime Juice (or lemon juice!)
¼ teaspoon Himalayan Pink Salt (or Sea Salt)
Instructions
Prepare 200 ml. Warm it up so the sugar and salt dissolve easily. (Tip: Microwave on High for about 50 seconds.)
Add the sugar and salt, and give it a good stir until completely dissolved.
Pour in the remaining 300 ml of water and stir.
Finally, add the lime juice, mix well, and that's it!
Chill it in the fridge before serving, enjoy it at room temperature or over ice!
Cooking Notes
Feel free to adjust the sweet and sour balance to your preference!
If using fresh juice, you can strain the pulp if you prefer it nice and clear.
