How to Shishito

These popular Japanese chili peppers have been popping up more and more at local grocery stores here in the U.S.If you’ve seen them and wondered how to cook or enjoy them—this recipe is for you!

Just air fry or pan fry—no fancy sauces needed.It’s simple, quick, and so good!


Ingredients

  • Shishito Peppers

  • Soy Sauce

  • Bonito flakes

  • Oil if you want to pan-fry


Instructions

  1. Wash and clean shishito peppers under cold water.

  2. Drain well and pat dry with a paper towel.

  3. Make a small slit in each pepper—this helps prevent them from popping while cooking. You can trim off the tops if you prefer.

  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (204°C).

  5. Place the peppers in the fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd them for the best results.

  6. Air fry for 7–8 minutes or until nicely charred, flipping halfway through
